Meet the team - Richard Meacham

Welcoming our new Bandsaw Business Manager - Richard Meacham who joins the Starrett Team today.

Richard joins us with a wealth of knowledge in the bandsaw industry, having worked at Dynashape for the last 8 years. Worcestershire born and bred we learn more from this motocross mad, hard hitting family man here in his Ice Breaker Meet the Team.

Your Previous Role and responsibility

I have been at Dynashape Saw Blades Ltd for the past 8 years, which are the leading circular saw sharpening and bandsaw supplier in the UK. Starting as a sales representative, I soon became sales director managing a team of internal and external sales staff. For the past two years I have acted as Deputy Managing Director overseeing both sales and production, implementing a new team to create a better and more diverse company

.

What attracted you to Starrett?

Having been a dealer for Starrett's bandsaw blades, I have confidence in their products, team and brand. The Attraction for me is what can be achieved with the brand name Starrett that is already a leading name in all manufacturing industries across the world but this combined with a new strategy and goal for the U.Ks bandsaw division is what has brought me to the Starrett Team.

What do you believe is the biggest opportunity for Starrett?

The biggest opportunity for Starrett is to become one of the leading manufacturers in the U.K for bandsaw blades, not only through existing dealers and other distribution networks, but for Starrett to be dealing direct to key accounts across all manufacturing industries in the U.K market, this will offer customers a very unique and beneficial service to deal direct with the manufacturer.

Tell us a bit about you and your family?

My family are the single most important thing in my life. I have been with my wife, Leane, for 12 years and married for five, with my beautiful daughter Bonnie fast approaching 4. I was born and have lived in Worcestershire all my life where all of my large family reside. I am one of eight children, and like spending as much quality time with them as possible. We spend a lot of time outdoors, be that at the farm or the beach. My favourite hobby is motocross, which I take my 10 year old sister and my daughter on her quad bike, which she has been riding since she was 2 (scary!) followed closely by a few rounds of golf every week for some peace and quiet.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

I left school at 16 straight into the military where once I finished all basic training I served as a tracksuit soldier boxing for the Royal Logistic Regiment for 18 months.
